An early morning shot, the flower is almost completely open.
Calendula, marigold, is a genus of about 12-20 species of annual or perennial herbaceous plants in the daisy family Asteraceae, native to an area from Macaronesia east through the Mediterranean to Iran. Calendula should not be confused with other plants that are also known as marigolds, such as corn marigold, desert marigold, marsh marigold, or plants of the genus Tagetes.
The name "calendula" is a modern Latin diminutive of calendae, meaning "little calendar", "little clock" or possibly "little weather-glass".

Hello, Thank you for viewing my work or making a purchase, I'm truly grateful. I'm a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute. I worked in high volume labs printing in a darkroom before moving to Dallas, Texas, working in the photo district in a custom BW lab, printing murals and linens for artists all over the world. I later worked as a photographers assistant in commercial fashion and product shoots in studio and on location and in-studio labs. After becoming ill, I returned to my hometown.
