This is a strange, creepy, beautiful and scary group of images that will evoke phobias. It's creation was somewhat accidental. I just wanted a bee or two on my flowers like the images I studied in Art History...and this gallery is the result of HOURS and DAYS sitting perched over flowers. When frost and freeze warnings came, vases, jars and cans of flowers invaded my porch, counters, window sills, cabinet tops, the fridge, tables and yes...under the kitchen sink. I would take them back out the following days into the warm sun and wait.
I can no longer name all the insects in this album. The whole objective took on a life of it's own and has become yet another subject I love to work with. I have no explanation for how I overcame MY fears other than: courage is when you are scared shitless and do something anyway....I loved the images and, since I've not been "on the grid" I'd not personally seen many images like these-not even in the many garden books I own. Maybe, that will change. This has been a wild ride so far and I can't wait until spring to start again. My garden contains hundreds of plants to use in my still life images. Until then, I have many images to edit this winter, even though I did not begin shooting this gallery until August, 2011. thanks for stopping in!~c
