Description
Abraham Lincoln stands thawing out from the massive snowstorm. The statue commemorates Leavenworth as the location of his first campaign speech in December of 1859 in his run for president of the United States. Yes, the title is a really bad pun I could not resist.
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln successfully led the United States through one of its greatest constitutional, military, and moral crises the American Civil War preserving the Union. Reared in a poor family on the western frontier, Lincoln was mostly self-educated, and became a country lawyer.
